Overview
Zynk is building a powerful, all-in-one tool for transfering files. But, before launching, they needed an onboarding experience that reflected their brand and made getting started feel seamless. The next phase was to define a clear voice, simplify early flows, and set up scalabe systems for future growth.
Process
Keeping my teams on track across time zones to meet our deadlines
I started with Google Docs to coordinate our async teams, but due dates slipped through the cracks and urgency was hard to build. So I switched to Slack—where we were already talking—and responses picked up fast. Daily agendas covering yesterday, today, and tomorrow kept everyone aligned across time zones.
Finding the friction that shaped the redesign
Before rewriting, we needed to know what wasn’t working. Our audit flagged friction in clarity, tone, and structure—major barriers to earning user trust. Those insights shaped every decision that followed, including the redesign of three onboarding flows.
Solution
Creating an intentional, consistent user experience with a new brand voice
Our new copy needed to connect with users and earn their trust. I led a brainstorming session to define the brand’s voice in three words—reliable, innovative, and supportive. We also created tone dimensions, inspired by Uber, to help strike the right emotional balance on every screen.
Writing with personality and clarity to make a great first impression
I rewrote the welcome screen with a tagline and playful, focused copy that better reflects Zynk’s voice. The new content feels more inviting and gets users moving in the right direction.
Spelling out details to build user confidence and trust
I designed a dedicated login screen with clear, precise language. The detailed disclaimer sets expectations upfront and eases uncertainty.
Writing how people speak for easy comprehension
This screen’s original content felt stiff and hard to follow. I rewrote it with a casual, approachable tone. The new screen is easier to understand and helps users move through tasks with less effort.
Preventing drop-offs by adding troubleshooting options
Verifying a phone number is a common drop-off point, so I added clear troubleshooting options to smooth things out. A few precise edits clarified the screen’s purpose and will help users move through this step faster.
Results
We gave Zynk clear, inviting onboarding screens and a distinct brand voice that builds credibility from the very first interaction. The style guide and streamlined flows remove friction and make it easy for users to get started. With these foundations in place, we expect higher engagement, greater task success, and fewer drop-offs when Zynk launches.
This project sharpened my skills as both a leader and content designer. I created simple solutions for complex problems, successfully guided two async teams, and shaped systems that will support real user needs. It’s the kind of work I want to keep doing: collaborative, strategic, and built to make a difference.
